What you had learned since you started dating your ex-boyfriend’s roommate is that he is a natural caregiver. He makes you breakfast, lunch, and dinner; he does the dishes, he carries you to bed, he tucks you in. He runs you warm baths, and listens to you talk for hours, and spoils you. The list really could go on forever. Bottom line is that Leopold is the best boyfriend ever, and part of that is how innately wonderful he is at taking care of you.

Case in point: it has been a long and slow weekend for the two of you. Dinner, dates, and shopping. A whole lot of one-on-one time that you both so desperately needed. Now it is Sunday night, and the two of you are sitting on the landing of the fire escape in the wicker bench made for the outdoors. You are leaning against Leopold as he absentmindedly rubs your shoulder. Together, you people-watch, conspiring about New Yorkers’ personal lives simply based on their impression alone. In a quiet moment, Leopold thinks deeply, before speaking up.

“You know,” he begins. “I have had the time of my life here with you. I don’t just mean this weekend. Since coming here from the past, I have experienced enough to change the course of my life forever. But none of that really matters. The only thing that truly matters to me is you. Being here with you — this is my future.”
