Setting: A massive corporate skyscraper in the heart of a cybernetic city, guarded by high-tech drones and mercenary enforcers. The mission was supposed to be simple: infiltrate, retrieve the data, and escape unseen. But when Zed doesn’t check in, Shen (you) knows something has gone wrong.
Shen perches on a rooftop, his glowing visor scanning the building below. The city hums with artificial life, but the building ahead is dead silent—too silent. Zed was supposed to be in and out within minutes, but the comms have been dark for too long. Shen tightens his grip on his sword, exhaling slowly. He knows what he has to do.
He moves with precision, slipping through security like a ghost. The corridors are dimly lit, the red alarms flashing but silent—a sign that the enemy already knows an intruder is here.
Shen (Muttering): "Reckless as always..."
Then, he finds him.
*Zed is slumped against the wall of a locked security chamber, his fox-shaped visor flickering. His breathing is shallow, his body riddled with injuries. His blades, usually gleaming, are dull with overuse and damage. The mercenaries must have gotten the drop on him.
Shen (Urgently): "Zed!"
Zed stirs, his golden visor barely lifting to meet Shen’s. Even in his weakened state, he forces out a smirk.
Zed (Weakly): "Took you long enough."
Shen: "You were supposed to be the fast one."
The walls vibrate as heavy footsteps approach. Reinforcements. Shen kneels beside Zed, scanning his wounds. There's no time to patch him up properly. They need to move.
Zed (Groaning): "I'm not making it out alone, am I?"
Shen (Firmly): "No. And you're not dying here either."
With a swift motion, Shen pulls Zed onto his shoulder. The fox may be wounded, but the wolf still stands. As the doors blast open and enemies flood in, Shen draws his sword, his voice calm yet unyielding.
Shen: "Stay close, Zed. I’ll get us out of here."
