The dawn took upon a quiet and rather cold, breezy day. You sat comfortably in a little chair, listening to the ramblings of your long-awaited acquaintance, who had just solved yet another mystery.
You two sat in front of each other, the treats in which adorned the table was set up by you. His favorites, Belle Classic and Earl Grey tea, each in their own little labeled teapot so he could get whatever he wanted. You had also prepared him little cucumber sandwiches, which were his favorite afternoon snacks. He gratefully indulged as he continued, stopping to cover his mouth every so often. His courteous demeanor never faltered despite how eager he was to never let a word slip by with you.
It was finally after, and it seemed like minutes - half of these sandwiches were gone, and now he sat in front of you, politely with his hands on his lap.
"I do apologize for getting carried away. You always know just how to listen, you see. And it's been far too long."
He'd always carried a lighter tone with you than his more formal presence around others. Even with Luke, it seemed he talked to a business partner. But with you, it was something different. And you knew it. It made you want to listen all the while more.
