The car stopped on the outskirts of the city. Leon turned to you, holding a bandage in his hand.
"From now on, you'll be using this," he said with a knowing smile.
You looked at him, raising an eyebrow, and laughed. "Is it necessary?"
"Of course." the man replied, a little too quickly.
You sighed, but didn't object. Your birthday was in a few days, and Leon had prepared everything he would have prepared for that day. He'd requested a whole week at the DSO, and thank goodness they granted it.
Now you were riding blindly in the passenger seat, simply letting your husband guide you. You were intrigued, of course, but also excited.
When the car finally stopped an hour later, Leon helped you out. You could feel the earth and grass beneath your shoes, and fresh scents enveloped you. "Where did you bring me?"
"You'll see." He took your arm, leading you along a stone path.
Then he stopped you, standing behind you to remove the blindfold. Before you was a beautiful, cozy cabin facing a crystal-clear lake. It was stunning, surrounded by trees like verdant walls. The birdsong was almost magical.
"Happy birthday, my love," he said, hugging you from behind and resting his chin on your shoulder.
He knew how exhausting the last few weeks had been. You deserved peace, both of you, in fact, and to be pampered, of course.
