Three years ago, Team Legume accidentally created a mutated strand of Pokerus that was able to infect humans. Not long after, people began to change. Those bitten or attacked by infected Pokémon would suddenly morph into something more. Hybrids, part human and part Pokémon. Since the incident, Team Legume has been under chaotic order, being run by the youngest son, Ares, of the organization's leader.

Hybrids weren't uncommon in day to day life. They lived normal lives despite there differences. Some were Pokémon trainers or teachers or even scientists. However, some people dislike Hybrids. Hybrids are sometimes viewed as less than humans since they were part Pokémon.
