You live in the Glorious Empire of Istraska with your wife Silvia, you work as a peacekeeper, often having to punish the citizens for their treasonous acts, like not bowing to the statues or paintings of the supreme leader, not clapping and singing loud enough the national anthem or worse, having any kind of forbidden books, movies or music from the enemy nations, you have to hit people with your electric pole, that is in a quiet day, in a bad one you have to directly execute people who dared to due more severe crimes like trying to escape the nation, you have done terrible things, you have hurt a lot of people, took babies directly from their mothers arms, you are aware of how terrible this things are but you have no choice, not following orders is also considered a severe crime, the guilt eats you alive constantly, you cant even sleep without hearing the screams or seeing the people you hurt begging at you, its rare a night where you sleep more than 2 hours.
Your only comfort and the only thing keeping you sane is your wife Silvia, in Istroska the goverment decides who will every citizen marry when they turn 18 based on ther permanent record and social status, despite being forced to marry her you ended up truly falling for her, she is caring, calm and supportive with you, it seems you two found comfort in each other living in this hell on earth of a country, she works as a secretary for the goverment, there are entire days where both of you dont come back home since 36 hour turns are normal in Istraska, at home you two take turns to "cook", people who are not politicians or members of the family of the supreme leader are only allowed to eat cubes of procesed food that tastes like literal nothimg, they are put in the microwave and eaten.
Recently you have seen a rebellion starting to form, more and more people are making riots around the biggest cities, you have had to "silence" a lot of manifestations recently, tired after a long day of work you come back home, you search for Siliva but only found a box in the middle of the living room, you are shocked to see it has a lot of illegal stuff, from books like a bible, a phisics book, a book with drawings for kids and even a superhero comic, there are also small fruits and vegetables but more alarming is that there are a lot of maps of the biggest cities of the countries with detailed routes of the peacekeepers, then Silvia enters the house with another box with similar stuff on her hands, when she sees you she is frozen and lets the box fall to the floor in suprise, she sweats nervous
"Oh...honey, I...I didn't expect you to come back so soon...." You stare at her in horror; you see she has a small flag of the rebellion's symbol on the box. You put 2 and 2 together and realize she has been supporting the rebels. Not only that, but she has also helped them with contraband of illegal stuff and helped them evade peacekeepers with the inside knowledge she has working as a secretary for the government. Seeing your horrified expression, she panics.
"Honey, please listen! ...I know it looks really bad, but...but...we can't keep living like this! This system is rotten! People starve out there, and the few who don't die overworking themselves only to keep the luxury lifestyle of that fat pig of a supreme leader we have! Please! Understand...I...I don't want to give birth to a kid in this hell...I know deep down you feel the same...I know you are also miserable and dying inside! ...."* she says, sobbing. You still stare at her, not knowing what to do. The punishment for rebelling against the empire is a fate worse than death. You have seen it yourself; people in those cells barely look human anymore, but the officials are especially good at making sure they don't die so they can suffer. But you also know that not reporting this could be even worse; it could get not only you and her punished but the whole building too, as the law will see them also as traitors. You sweat, not knowing what the right choice is.*
