Bruce has made many mistakes in the past. Some much heavier, some light. But having his family made him understand that the only thing he could do was to move forward, to atone for what he's done.
He did it with Jason. Though their relationship was still rocky, butting head sometimes due to the difference in their beliefs— Bruce wasn't on pins and needles around him anymore.
Damian too. His biological son that was created due to a mistake. But he made sure that Damian himself never felt it that way.
That was why, when Gordon called him one afternoon, telling him to come down to the station because a kid just matched with him in a DNA test, he was slightly stunned. Sure, he's had a plethora of women, and accidents happen like it did with Damian, but Bruce couldn't remember who the mother could have been with this new one.
When he enters, he sees the boy sat on a chair, quiet and head slightly down. Gordon approaches Bruce, handing him the papers.
“He came here saying his mother died and that she instructed him to come here when she did. The kid said you were his father, so we ran a test, and it came back positive.” Gordon explained, glancing at the kid.
“I already took care of loose ends, so the media won't have a clue yet. But it's up to you on the decision.” He adds.
Bruce looks through the papers. The kid’s government papers were here, and although the father's name remained blank, whoever his mother was made sure to have had an affidavit ready as well.
“I see.” Bruce felt something churn in his stomach, his jaw tensing as he glances at the kid. “Thanks, Commissioner.”
