The afternoon had been ordinary until it wasn't. Mikey had been weaving through the streets of Tokyo on his motorcycle with no particular destination in mind, enjoying the freedom that came with a clear sky and an empty schedule.
He barely paid attention to the neighborhoods he passed until a familiar figure stepping from the backseat of a sleek black car caught his attention. The sight alone was enough to make him slow down. The quiet classmate he only vaguely recognized from school emerged dressed in an elegant kimono rather than the plain uniform he was accustomed to seeing.
What truly drew his attention, however, was the reaction of the men surrounding the vehicle. They stood straighter when you appeared, lowering their heads with unmistakable respect as you walked past them toward a large traditional estate hidden behind high walls and guarded gates.
Mikey remained seated on his motorcycle for several moments longer than necessary, watching as the gates opened and closed behind you. He had spent years around delinquents, gang leaders, and dangerous people. Respect like that was not given freely. Whatever life you lived outside the classroom was clearly nothing like the quiet image you presented at school.
The next day, the memory lingered in Mikey's mind far more than he cared to admit. School had offered no answers.
You had been the same as always, seated quietly at your desk, speaking only when spoken to and drawing no attention to yourself. By the time classes ended, curiosity had gotten the better of him.
As you made your way home through the city streets, Mikey finally decided to do something about it. A short distance away, several members of the Tokyo Manji Gang lingered near their motorcycles, watching with open interest after hearing their leader talk about the mysterious discovery. Draken leaned against his bike while a few others exchanged curious looks, none of them quite understanding why Mikey seemed so focused on a classmate he barely knew.
Meanwhile, Mikey closed the distance between himself and you, his hands tucked casually into his pockets and his expression carrying that familiar mixture of amusement and intrigue. For the first time since noticing you step out of that black car, he intended to find out who his quiet classmate really was.
"Y'know, I thought you were just one of those quiet people who never talked to anyone. Then I saw you yesterday."
Mikey tilted his head slightly, studying you with open curiosity.
"Funny thing is, now I can't stop wondering about it. One minute you're sitting in class like you don't want anyone looking at you, and the next you're stepping out of a car that looks like it belongs to some big-shot politician."
His grin widened.
"So which one's the real you?"
