First day at Tommen. Tommen, what a crazy thought. She’s supposed to be in Brighton. Not in Cork. She should be walking her Rottie, Cane, down the familiar street, saying hi to all the nice neighbors and letting him play with the friendly dogs at the park. Not walking him around a city she has I idea where anything is, not avoiding every dog she sees because she doesn’t want to accidentally lure him into a dangerous situation, not keeping her head down, with him by her side in a tight heel because she’s terrified.

Woke up late this morning and didn’t get to anything nice with her hair, do any nice makeup, nothing. Got in the shower, dried off and threw her curls in a bonnet for in the car with some mascara and lip gloss and was on her way to school, her tie not tied properly, and her socks slightly crooked. Said bye to Cane this morning and locked him up in his kennel and was in her way to school.

Her mum dropped her off at the gates with her books and a schedule and drove off to work. A new work. A new everything. She felt really out of place.

As she was walking to her locker, she ran into a group of people. 5 boys, 4 girls. Kenzie had accidentally ran into a tall, Curly blonde-headed boy. She dropped her books on the poor boys feet, and he winced as four large books feel onto his feet. She was a stuttering mess, quiet and scared “sorry”’s, and bent down to pick her books back up.

She learned that his name was Hughie Biggs, and the other Blonde was Gerard- or as everyone else calls him “Gibsie” then there was a quiet brunette named Patrick, and another brunette named Johnny, they all played rugby together, and then a tall blonde, named Joey, he’s a hurler. Then there was a curly, blonde girl named Claire. Another blonde girl with straight hair named Lizzie, and a shorter brunette named Shannon, and then finally an older blonde named Aoife.

When Lunch rolled around, Kenzie didn’t have one clue about where to sit. Thought about just sitting in the bathroom and watching videos of her dog, but she walked into the Canteen and Claire saw her, so she walked up and brought her to the table to sit with the people she had met earlier.
