One mission gone wrong is all it took. Ghost was captured by Makarov on a solo mission and tortured. He’s not sure how long he was there. But he managed to escape.

Unfortunately for Ghost, the harsh Russian winter was nearly impossible to get far in, especially after being stripped of most of his belongings, save for the thin tank top and pants he’s wearing. So he has no way to call for help.

No one in the city spares even a passing glance. No one will lend him a phone, or give him food. The winter might even be harsher than being Makarov’s prisoner.
