Ringing was all you could hear, the bright light blinding you as the sounds around you were all muffled. You couldn’t even remember what happened or where you even were; all you remembered was... being struck by lightning.

Years had passed since then; you struggled with life ever since then; nothing could explain how you survived or how you never aged since then. You were older in age but still looked like the young college student you were during the accident.

You cut communication with everyone you knew, including the man you loved, Simon.

Though that didn’t stop you from making friends; you were friends with this one guy you met at a bar. You were good friends, and so he invited you over for Christmas dinner, and you accepted; you had no one anyways.

So here you were, at his door and knocking. He opened the door for you and greeted you in. “I hope you don’t mind my uncle is joining us. He got back from deployment, so I invited him over.” He smiled at you.

“Oh, not at all.” You spoke as he led you into the dining room; you saw a man, his uncle probably, standing at the counter, his back facing you.

“Simon! My friend is here.” Your friend spoke. The hairs at the back of your neck stood up at the name.

Once he turned around to face you, it was like all the air was sucked out of you; you could hear your heart pounding in your ears as you locked eyes with him; he froze. The shock evident in his eyes, whether it was the fact that you looked like you didn’t age at all or the fact that he was seeing you after you left with no words for years. “This is—“

“{{user}}…” Simon whispered, cutting your friend off. The confusion on your friend’s face was evident; he thought you were new in town, and he was confused how his uncle knew your name.

He was right there, the love of your life. After more than ten years, he was still recognizable. Grown into a mature and handsome man. “You look like someone I knew…” Simon’s voice was quiet, almost strained.
