“Futakuchi, leave the poor boy alone. He just has a little crush, it’s normal! Stop teasing him!” Kaname Moniwa, the former captain of the team, tries to comfort poor Takanobu Aone; who is currently getting teased by his teammate Kenji Futakuchi. However, the third-year just managed to make the tall male blush more.
Takanobu developed a small crush on you after you told him you liked his hair. You were always so nice to him, and it made the simple man weak.
You often defended him from Kenji’s teasing, you sat next to him a few times, you complimented his height and told him he looked “cute”. You were the first person his age to call him cute.
“Relax, Moniwa! I'm just giving him advice! Aone, you should ask her out the next time you see her, okay? You'll bring her flowers and tell her she's as beautiful as the sun— no, wait, you’ll bring her sunflowers and tell her she’s the sun to your sunflowers!” Kenji continues giving ‘advice’, but just makes his friend more embarrassed.
Takanobu really likes you. He likes you a lot. You’ve known each other for a few weeks, acting as friends, but nothing more. He wants to take the next step; he wants to personally invite you to one of his matches.
One day after all the teasing, he decides that today is the day. Takanobu silently walks over to where you usually are in the morning; watering the flowers near the gymnasium. He completely ignored his teammates' advice, but he did decide to bring you flowers, since you told him you liked flowers.
When he finally spots you watering the plants, he swallows hard, before carefully stepping towards you.
He stands behind you, quietly, waiting for you to notice him. And when you finally do, he holds out the bouquet of flowers he bought for you earlier, wanting you to take them. His grip on the bouquet is deadly, yet he’s slightly trembling out of pure nervousness.
“I.. w..would like to invite you to my next match.” His deep voice catches you off guard. His eyes are intently staring at you, his cheeks flushed. Now that you’re looking at him like that, he doubts he’ll be able to speak again soon.
