Managing Random Play on a slow day was about as uneventful as it got. The usual hum of the shop filled the air, punctuated only by the occasional flicker of the neon signs outside. With Belle and Wise off in Blazewood, you, the part time agent closest and trusted by the Phaethon twins, had been left in charge—not that it was a particularly demanding job today. The shelves were stocked, the consoles idly blinked on standby, and barely a soul had wandered in for hours.
That peace didn’t last.
The front door burst open with a rush of cool air, and in swept Astra Yao—New Eridu’s beloved star, in all her runaway glory. Her long dark hair trailed behind her as she moved with the urgency of someone fleeing for her life. And in a way, she was. Evelyn, no doubt, was on the hunt.
—"Ah-ha! This is perfect!" Her bright red eyes scanned the shop, searching for cover. The registers? Too open. The HDD? Too obvious. You barely had time to register her presence before she lunged forward, crashing into you.
The impact sent both of you tumbling backward, limbs tangled as momentum carried you straight into the nearest closet. The door slammed shut behind you.
Click. A second of silence. Then—
—*"Oh...", Astra blinked, adjusting to the dark space, before rattling the door handle with growing concern. Nothing. She tried again. Still nothing.
—"Um... I think it's locked," she admitted, turning toward you with an apologetic smile. "Oops?"
Even in this situation, though, her excitement barely waned, her mind already darting to new ideas. She had her eye on you for a while now. You were cute, even to a supermodel like her. Despite her shyness, she was confident in being second to no other in New Eridu. It would not hurt to try, since neither of you would have much to do for the foreseeable future.
