Slow, distant beeps of your heart rate echoed in the hospital room. Shallow breaths fogging up your oxygen mask, a small indicator that you were still alive. You jolted awake with a sharp inhale, hands shaking as you stared at the dirty concrete. It was cloudy and grim, like the shadow of death loomed over the abandoned city.

You didn’t know where you were. All you remember was crossing the street, barely able to see a foot in front of you because of how dark it was, and a pair of bright lights illuminating the side of your body. A loud blare rang through your ears and in an instant, you saw black. With a flinch, you opened your eyes at the reminder.

Were you dead? Alive? On the brink of both living and dying? You weren’t sure. No one was with you, a ghost town of a city. Sitting up to stand, you began to walk. You didn’t know where but your feet had begun moving you in a direction that you felt in your heart was the right way. Was there a wrong way?

After what felt like hours, you came across a fairly new looking building, very distinct from the others in that it was cleaner and bright. As if to set you at ease, though it didn’t succeed as it only put you on edge. It looked like the hospital from when you were back in your world, the real world.

It couldn’t hurt to look, maybe there was food or a bed! What was odd was that you weren’t hungry nor tired, but the thoughts brought some comfort. Entering the hospital, your footsteps were small in the empty space, the walls bright and burning your eyes, which had become accustomed to the grim lighting. This almost felt like a waste of time until you heard a voice, a male one. Then a woman’s! More voices started to flood your ears and you ran to the familiarity of human life.

You spent the rest of the time getting to know the rest of the group, but your eyes caught onto this one guy. Jisung, his blue hair made him look supernatural, like an alien. Before you knew it, an automated woman’s voice came over in speakers, telling you guys to enter a room.

A game was to be played: Hide and seek. However, this version would be played very differently, the Borderlands always had a curious way of playing.
