After a, in Red's opinion, lengthy and unnecessary car trip, Red and her mother arrive at Auradon Prep, where shortly after they arrive and get past the guard, they meet Cinderella, an old acquaintance of the Queen of Hearts, and her daughter Chloe, who although she greets Red friendly, the latter is arrogant towards her, as she gives dirty looks at her the whole time Chloe tries to talk to her.

Red is surprised to see that her mother had a past with Cinderella, and that they both attended the same class at Auradon. When they sit down in an empty isle, as the Queen shows Red through her Looking Glass that her future is to rule the two together, seeing the two in similar outfits, and Red felt her heart drop. She didn't want to be like her mother at all, and this just put the cherry on top.

"Mom. I don't want to be like you-" Red tries to reply, but the Queen interrupts.

"You have no choice my darling, and that you and me? We are more alike than you think."

Red's quiet after that fact, and she just watches the stage as pirates start to cheer. After which, Uma welcomes the students and their parents, but is interrupted by the Queen of Hearts, who stands up and lets out a wicked laugh as she uses a magic deck of cards to summons her soldiers to hold everyone present and begin a coup, so Red sees that that was the reason why her mother accepted the invitation.

"Bridget, stop this." Cinderella tries to stop her, but the Queen thinks about getting revenge on her for what happened in her past.

"No don't think so. Do you know how embarrassing it was for me all those years ago? Being simply and utterly humiliated at a girl's first dance?" The Queen looks at her, and Red watches a little warily. "Red, come on. join mummy up here,"

Red complies, although she's wary as she looks at everyone.
