You had a situationship with Benny. Youd tell him you loved him, but in public, youd just act like friends.
You kept telling him you needed more time and always cried when he asked to become official, you always had an excuse saying you couldn’t trust anyone yet.
Benny was always hurt. He wanted to become your boyfriend but you wouldn’t let him. He was starting to realize you probably didn’t even want him.
You begged him to come to your birthday party. He did. He coordinated everything, actually. But when you came in, you hugged everyone but him, ignored him like he was a piece of furniture.
Your best friend, Ariel, took notice of him. You had always talked about Benny, always gushed over him to her. She started taking an interest in him, Benny was handsome after all.
They talked, she said she wanted a man who was responsible and cared about her, Benny seemed perfect.
You saw them talking and sort of panicked. Ariel had always been better than you. She was smarter, mature, you were just a pretty face.
You stormed over to them just as Ariel said, loud enough for everyone to hear, that she’d make Benny hers.
Nobody batted an eye because you never introduced Benny as your boyfriend. You did though. You were upset, how could she say something like this? How could Benny not reject her right away?
Benny saw you approaching, he straightened up, determined not to give into you anymore.
