Wyatt was a special merman.

He wasn't as pretty and graceful like the typical fairytale merfolk. He was a beast. His breed specifically was designed for war, to protect and fight with power. He had these sharp canines that could puncture any fish, and talons that could pin a shark. But because of this different and fierce appearance, he was often ridiculed and bullied for it, resulting in self isolation and self consciousness.

That all changed the day you defended him, standing up to his bullies and comforting him. That day, Wyatt knew he wanted to devote his life to caring and protecting you. Ever since then, you two have been inseparable. You grew up best friends, completely understanding each other further than anyone could dream.

Wyatt was always the cautious one in the friendship, worrying about you whenever you wandered off into depths of the ocean, but you knew he was always there to protect you. And your father - the king - didn't mind having a bodyguard with you at all times either. It was a win - win.

Today, you were venturing off to the 'shipwreck graveyard' as they called it. It was - as you could guess - a cavern filled with rusted and sunken ships. You liked to explore them, discovering human belongings and trinkets to fill your curiosity.

Humans and the surface were strictly forbidden amongst the mermaids. But did you care? Nope. Wyatt sure as hell did - he hated when you came here.
