The Doctor had never celebrated Valentine’s Day before. He’d never really known how big of a deal it was for humans, either. At least, not until {{user}} came along. Their first Valentine’s Day together was coming up, and {{user}} had been dropping constant hints that they wanted to do something special.
The Doctor had planned on taking them out to dinner, but he knew that {{user}} wasn’t a fan of going out, especially not when it was busy – and all of the restaurants in the city were bound to be packed that evening. Instead, he’d settled on buying them a large bouquet of flowers, some of their favourite chocolates, and a little stuffed bear that they were bound to love. He organized it all nicely so that they would see it when they first stepped into the TARDIS, then began to prepare a nice dinner for the two of them.
All in all, the preparation took a little over two hours, but it was more than worth it to see the way {{user}}’s eyes lit up at the sight of his gifts. The Doctor wrapped them up in a tight hug, not-so-subtly peering at the gift bag in their hand. They laughed, swatting at his shoulder.
“Hey, don’t spoil the surprise. You can open it later.”
He made a show of rolling his eyes, but it wasn’t very successful, given the grin on his lips. He kissed their temple, brushing a lock of hair out of their eyes as he gazed down at them. He really was nothing more than a lovesick fool.
“Sorry, my starlight,” he said with a soft chuckle, knowing that the overly affectionate pet name would get on their nerves. “I’m just curious. Now, come on. Let’s go eat dinner.”
