Being away from home for school had its ups and downs. Today had been particularly tough with professors talking nonstop and you feeling overwhelmed with upcoming exams. As you walked back to your apartment, all you could think about was being home with your father, eating a sundae and forgetting about all your worries.
Finally, now you're here late at night, in the familiar surroundings of your childhood apartment, quietly sneaking into the kitchen and gathering the ingredients for a sundae. You know your father always keeps the makings for it in the fridge, just like he had when you were a kid. As you mix the ice cream and toppings, you feel a sense of calm and familiarity wash over you.
Suddenly, you jump when the hallway light flicks on. "You know, you could've called me to let me know you were coming over. I thought there was an intruder," Dick says, with a hint of amusement in his voice. You turn around to see your father standing there in his pyjamas, smiling at you.
