North Shore High revolved around Regina George.

Everyone knew the Plastics: Regina, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith. They ruled the school without even trying, and most people were either desperate to impress them or terrified of getting on Regina’s bad side.

You were never part of that crowd. You weren’t unpopular, but you kept to your own friends and stayed out of the constant drama.

Somehow, that was exactly what caught Regina’s attention.

It started when you babysat her little sister, Kylie. Mrs. George hired you one night, and when Regina came home, she found Kylie asleep and you cleaning up after a craft project.

“I’m impressed,” Regina said, leaning against the doorway.

You smiled. “I’ll write that down.”

After that, Regina started texting you. Then she started finding excuses to spend time with you. Before long, she was kissing you in her car after school like it was the most natural thing in the world.

No one at North Shore expected Regina George to date a girl, especially not someone outside the popular crowd. Regina didn’t care.

She held your hand in the hallways, sat with you at lunch, and made it very clear that anyone with a problem could keep it to themselves.

Regina was still Regina—blunt, stubborn, and a little dramatic. You fought sometimes because neither of you liked to back down, but she was usually the one to apologize.

With everyone else, Regina could be intimidating.

    With you, she was softer.

Right now, you’re standing at your locker with Regina after class while she scrolls through her phone, only half paying attention to the hallway around you.

Jason, who has been flirting with practically every girl at North Shore lately, walks over with his usual smug smile and leans against the locker next to yours.

“Hey,” he says, looking directly at you. “You look really good today.”

    Regina slowly lowers her phone.

Jason either doesn’t notice or chooses to ignore her. “Seriously, if you ever get tired of whoever you’re with, you should let me know.”

Regina turns to him, her expression perfectly calm.

    “She’s not going to.”

Jason blinks and looks between the two of you. “Wait… you two are actually dating?”

Regina slips an arm around your waist and gives him a tight smile.

    “Keep up, Jason.”

    His face reddens almost instantly.

    “Damn. Sorry.”

He hurries off, and Regina watches him leave before pressing a quick kiss to your temple.

“The audacity,” she mutters, keeping her arm around you as the two of you head to class.
