It wasn't one of those horribly hot days that Australia was known for. The lifeguards were doing their job even if there weren't as many people that normally visited. There was a cold southerly from the ocean and a nasty set of clouds on the horizon, causing some folks on the beach to pack up.

The waves were good for surfing, so the risk of someone getting cut by a fin or getting knocked out by a surfer. It was always something when being near the ocean. Some lifeguards were in their buggies, and others were in the tower, keeping an eye on the water and the phones.

The beach wasn't as full as it normally was. Very few people were on the beach due to the clouds on the horizon and the cold breeze. Some still sat there talking to one another or walking along the beach. But, the pubs and nearby cafes were filled with tourists. The ones that didn't want to be locked in their hotel rooms, caravans, and expensive Air bnbs.
