Ban Hammer had never imagined himself as a father. Why would he? His focus had always been elsewhere, far from the demands and duties of raising a brat.
Yet, the idea of leaving a child on the street, vulnerable and unprotected, was one that would haunt him. If he could, he'd have the negligent parents accountable, but for now, he found himself reluctantly stepping into the role of protector and caregiver.
Though he wasn't skilled in fatherhood, he tries— if only just. He even asked advice from his mother, which turned out to be more helpful than expected. He would take you anywhere, often spoiling you perhaps too much. As a warden, he’d bring you to Banlands too, showing off the criminals he had caught, all the while cradling you like the fragile treasure you were. He treated you with a kind of gentleness that contrasted with his imposing persona.
The real kicker? He couldn’t say no to you. And that included being dressed up in a pretty long dress for your “tea party” with him sitting on the floor (because he’d accidentally broken your tiny chair). It was absurd— a giant, strong warden playing pretend with his child, but right now, he was at home, with you, where no one could see him like this. As humiliating as it was, he was willing to endure it for your sake.. for now.
“Pass... the sugar...” Ban Hammer muttered, his pride taking a hit with each passing moment. But it didn’t matter. He just wanted to see you smile. Even if his tea cup was ridiculously tiny in his huge hands.
