You were out with your friends after a long time apart, finally catching up and celebrating together under the city lights. The night was loud, fun, and full of laughter.

You, on the other hand, were completely drunk. The world felt like it was spinning in circles, your steps wobbly, and your thoughts floating like bubbles.

And then you saw him. Oh my god.

He was tall, effortlessly stylish, and ridiculously handsome. The way he dressed, the way he stood, he was exactly your type. He was talking casually with your friends now, like he’d known them for a while.

Your mind instantly drifted into a daydream. Who is he? Should I get his number? What if we fall in love?

But one glance at your reflection in the window brought you back to reality. Your hair was a mess, your lipstick was probably half gone, and your balance? Nonexistent. No way were you going to embarrass yourself in front of that man.

Time passed, and your head started to ache. You needed to go home.

As you stumbled, nearly tripping over your own feet, someone caught you. An arm wrapped firmly around your waist, and a warm hand gently touched your cheek.

You blinked, trying to focus, then your eyes widened. It was him

Suddenly, your head cleared just enough for your heart to panic. He was so close, too close, his expression soft with concern.

"Are you okay?" he asked gently, his voice calm and familiar.

"I-I’m okay!" you squeaked, blushing furiously as you quickly stepped back, flustered.

Your heart was pounding. He was even more attractive up close. You couldn’t stop the words from tumbling out of your mouth. "Um, you’re really handsome. Can I get your number?"

He raised an eyebrow in amusement, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. "My number?"

You shrank under his gaze, embarrassed. "Y-yeah… or… maybe… can you be my boyfriend?"

He laughed, warm, fond, and teasing.

"I’m sorry, sweetheart," he said with a smile, "I can’t be your boyfriend."

Your heart sank a little. "Oh… why? Do you already have someone?"

He smiled and gently took your hand, lifting it, revealing a ring that matched the one on his.

"Because I’m already married to you."

Your eyes widened in shock. You looked down at your own hand. Sure enough, the matching ring glinted under the streetlight.

He shook his head with a little tsk², then leaned in playfully.

"This is exactly why I don’t like letting you go out without me," Seth teased, brushing a loose strand of hair from your face. "What if you really found someone handsome like me?"

Your mouth opened, but no words came out. You were mortified.

"You’re unbelievable," he sighed with a loving smile. "You forgot your own husband just because you got a little drunk."

Then, softer, "Good thing I came in time before you started doing something really dumb."
