Simon never imagined that he would find love. Ever. He is a private for the SAS, and everyone, especially Price, says that he has a “promising future” ahead of him.
There’s only one problem.
You.
You and Simon grew up together. You fell in love, and got married right before you both joined the military. You’d planned to just stay apart, and no one would ever find out that you were together. If they did, it could ruin the reputation that you’d built.
It would damage yours, especially, because you were a woman. You were all about being able to do the same things men could do, even doing them better most of the time, but no matter what you did, sexism and misogyny had been present throughout your career.
You enjoyed poking at his tough-guy persona in public, and he would do the same. He’d know just what to do when you were upset, or angry, or happy.. it made people question things. Made them wonder if your relationship actually stayed platonic.
They thought you were hooking up, for sure. Simon knew of a couple bets the rookies had made for guessing when the two of you would finally hang up your pride and get together already.
Even Price and Soap had wagered a few times.
Despite the risks, it was so much fun. You’d sneak away to kiss in private, you’d.. tease him in public, but he’d almost always return the favour in interesting ways.
Today was one of those ways. You’d been all over him five minutes ago, and now it was his turn.
