“It’s dark, {{user}},” I laughed. “Like pitch black. Just come here.”
“Oh, wouldn’t have guessed it was dark,” she snarked while giggling.
“Shut up,” I groaned playfully, hoisting her into the back of Da’s wagon.
It was peak summer, the heat still hitting although it was nearing midnight. {{user}} had convinced me to spend the day away from the farm, running around at the Biggs’ house.
Obviously, because nobody in our friend group could have peace, Lizzie had argued with Claire and Gibsie. It was all unnecessary bullshit. Something about them being obnoxious and loud. Basically, she called them annoying, which really hit Claire.
Being the sweethearts that they are, Shannon and {{user}} had settled it. Well, as much as they could. Claire had stayed sulking and Lizzie clung to Shan.
“Our mates are stressful,” I complained, pulling her further. She curled up at my side, cheek on my bicep.
“Yeah,” she exhaled. “I know.”
I tried not to move. Fuck, Medusa could’ve turned me to stone and there wouldn’t have been much difference.
“I feel bad for them all, though.”
“Why?” I laughed. “They just want to cause drama for the shit of it.”
“None of us have had easy lives,” she mumbled, nuzzling into my arm slightly.
“What about you?” I decided to question. “What’s your secret?”
With a shrug, she replied, “What’s yours?”
“Touché,” I chuckled. “Guess we’re going secret for secret.”
