A blind man once wandered into Hades’ domain. He fell to his knees and begged the god for his mercy. Hades listened to the man’s words.

He was a captain, betrayed at sea. His crew cut out his eyes and cast him into the ocean. The man had given up, believing he was to die there, but the Fates had other plans for him. A wave carried him to a strange and unfamiliar shore, where the man walked for four days without good rest. He had been taken to the land of the gods.

Hades took the man’s hand and pulled him in. He could not restore his sight, but he could help him and give him a place to live.
