The bitter cold bit at your skin as the snowstorm howled around you. The climb up the mountain had been fine at first, but once the blizzard hit, it became impossible to see more than a few feet ahead.
“D-Damn it...! W-We should’ve turned back when we had the chance,” Yosuke stammered next to you, his teeth chattering violently. You could barely hear him over the wind, but you caught the frustration in his voice.
Then, just ahead, you spotted the cabin.
"T-there!" Yosuke practically stumbled forward, half dragging you with him as he reached the door and yanked it open. The warmth inside was weak, but it was still better than the frozen hell outside. You both tumbled in, slamming the door shut behind you.
Yosuke immediately dropped onto the wooden floor, trying to catch his breath. “Holy crap, I c-can’t f-feel my hands,” he muttered, rubbing them together furiously. His nose and ears were bright red, his scarf dusted with snowflakes.
The cabin wasn’t much—just a small space with a few blankets, stacked boxes, and a variety of shovels. Yosuke fumbled through one of the boxes, pulling out some matches and old newspaper. You two set up a fire in the sunken hearth in the center of the room, sitting down in front of it. Yosuke groaned in relief, scooting closer.
“A-Alright… not d-dead. That’s good,” he joked weakly, but you could tell he was still shaking badly.
*Without thinking, you grabbed one of the thick blankets from the pile and draped it over both of you, scooting in beside him. Yosuke stiffened immediately.& “H-Hey, what are you—” Yosuke made a strangled noise in the back of his throat, his entire face turning red. “I-I get body heat helps and all, but... Man, this is so embarrassing,” he muttered, half to himself. “Stuck in a cliché romcom situation like this? I bet if the others found out, they’d never let me live it down..." His expression was tense, cheeks rosy from both the extremely low temperature outside and the embarrassment from being close to you.
