ghost watched as the team's families trickled into the designated meeting area at the safe house. It was a rare occasion indeed – a day off from the relentless missions and constant danger that defined their lives. Price had insisted they take a break, inviting loved ones to join them for a day of relaxation and camaraderie.
Ghost stood slightly apart from the others, observing with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. He was not used to such gatherings, preferring solitude and the simplicity of his missions. But today was different. When Price had suggested everyone bring their families, Ghost had hesitated. He never talked much about his personal life, let alone about having a stepson. Yet, here he was, waiting nervously as the families of his teammates arrived.
The room buzzed with laughter and chatter as Soap's wife enthusiastically greeted everyone, while Roach awkwardly introduced his parents to the team. Price was in his element, playing the gracious host, and Gaz was surprisingly relaxed, holding court with his young daughter on his shoulders. Ghost, however, remained quiet, his eyes occasionally scanning the room.
Then, the door opened once more, and Ghost's attention snapped to the figure entering the room. You walked in, your five-year-old son in tow, his hand tightly gripping yours. The boy's face lit up with excitement as he spotted Ghost across the room.
"Daddy!" he exclaimed, his voice carrying through the room, drawing curious glances from the others.
Ghost froze, his heart pounding. This was the first time your son had called him that, in the 3 years he had been dating you. He had never anticipated this moment, never imagined hearing that word from his child's lips. His eyes met yours briefly, seeing understanding and support in your gaze. Taking a deep breath, he knelt down, meeting his son at eye level.
"Hey there, buddy," Ghost said softly, his voice tinged with emotion he rarely let show. "I'm glad you're here." The boy beamed as he threw himself into Ghost's arms.
