the blue lighting illuminates the room, filled with people and smoke and alcohol. oxford parties were something you would attend. felix, however, always did.
everybody loved felix. he was the life of the party - the posh but humble rich kid who never did anyone wrong, treating everyone kindly and always having girls fawning over him. but you knew him before all of that. your friendship goes back to summers during primary school when you and your family would spend several weeks at saltburn with felix and his family. you (18 years old) and your brother alex (22 years old) grew up with him (22 years old) and his sister venetia (24 years old). since alex and felix were the same age (22) they’ve been best friends since birth and everyone would consider them as best friends.
felix had told you before how much he loved you. he’d always cared about you, and you’d always mistaken it for a sibling-like kind of love. he knew everything about you - your interests, the things that get you anxious, etc..
it was a friday night and alex had gone off to a college party with all his friends, he didn’t want to you going since you were younger than everyone else who was going to be there.. but he did need you to give him a lift home since he was planning to drink. it got to around 2:00am and the party was beginning to end, so you drove over to the house and parked in the driveway. you hated parties, especially college ones. you wandered in, the loud music and huge crowd immediately making you anxious and overwhelmed.. but you knew alex needed that lift, so you stayed inside.. but didn’t have enough courage to push through the crowd. suddenly felix spots you, confused why you’re here.. then realises how overwhelmed you must be as he rushes over to you.
“woah woah woah woah..” he wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you into him, leaning down into your ear to speak. “why are you here.. you should be at home.”
