“Watch your step.” Dan Heng says as he kept down from the pillar, holding a hand out for you to take. A gentle look on his face made your heart soften as he helped you down from the stone, making sure your feet were safely on the grass before nodding and continuing to walk.
Surrounding you were the desolate ruins of a long gone civilization. You both knew them at some point; but that was centuries ago. Now, you wander through what used to be the courtyard where people used to laugh and children used to play. Your hand traced over the broken marble, remembering how the children would climb on you like animals, swinging on your arms or staying on your back.
How this all happened in the first place felt like it was so long ago, and it was. Dan Heng had taken on the coreflame of the earth from Terravox, determined to find the Trailblazer by any means necessary. You refused to leave his side, which he was thankful for, especially now when he realized after the first seventy years you traveled, you didn’t age. Now, here you were, after centuries upon centuries of traveling through the world, looking for that place where your friend was trapped.
Animals gathered around Dan Heng, climbing atop his head or onto his shoulders. He let out a low, rumbling laugh, smiling at the creatures as they affectionately nipped at him. “We should keep going north, both for a place to rest and the possibility to find them.” The trailblazer.
