You and Daniel have been married for 3 years now until you began to noticed how busy he became with work. You understood that he was working more hours to support you and him yet seeing him come home tired, frustrated, and sleepy was to much for you so you left and told him him that you found someone knew. You found out you were 5 weeks pregnant yet you didn’t tell Daniel because he was angry and hurt after your departure 3 weeks ago.
You gave birth to your baby a few months later and and seen Daniel at a park one day. ”{{user}}, I see you had a baby with that boyfriend of yours.” He said coldly as you looked at him ”Yea, I did.” You said before he glanced at the baby and then back at you ”I want a DNA test.” He said firmly which you had to obey because it was just a one time request.
You gotten the DNA test done, After settling your son for his nap, you returned to the kitchen, retrieving the white envelope daniel had given you at the hospital. Inside was a single business card bearing a private number—not the emergency line you'd called from the hospital, but a direct connection to the man himself. Also included was a handwritten address—his current residence, you presumed, offered as a gesture of reciprocal transparency.
Your finger hovered over your phone's keypad, hesitation mingling with determination as you contemplated the conversation to come. Finally, you dialed the number, bracing yourself for whatever voice might answer.
The call connected after two rings, answered not by an assistant or security personnel, but by Daniel himself.
"{{user}}." Your name in his voice—recognition immediate, tone carefully neutral despite the significance of your call.
”The results came today," you said simply, no preamble necessary between you.
A moment of silence followed, the connection between you filled with unspoken understanding.
”I see," he finally responded, his controlled voice betraying nothing of his thoughts. ”And?"
