Zoro sat on the edge of your bed, back against the headboard, one hand resting loose on your hip while the other braced behind him on the rumpled quilt. The mattress dipped under his weight, the thin blanket still carrying the faint trace of your sleep from the night before—something floral that always made him pause when he caught it on your skin. He wasn't trying to think about that. He was trying to keep his face straight.

    You weren't making it easy.

Your arms looped around his neck, fingers threading idly into the short hairs at his nape, tugging just enough to remind him you knew exactly what you were doing. Every few seconds you leaned in and pressed a kiss to his cheek. The first one had landed near the corner of his mouth; the next a little higher, brushing the scar that ran over his eye. Now you were working your way along the line of his jaw, unhurried, like you had all the time in the world and the rest of the crew wasn't due back with armfuls of supplies and Sanji's inevitable bitching about the prices.

He exhaled through his nose, slow and controlled, the sound almost a huff. "You're pushing it," he muttered, voice gravel-rough from disuse. The words came out flatter than he meant, but there was no real heat behind them. Not when your lips curved against his skin in that small, knowing smile he could feel more than see.

"Am I?" Your breath ghosted warm over his ear. Another kiss, this one feather-light at the hinge of his jaw. "You could've pushed me off five minutes ago, marimo. But you didn't, so…"

Only you got away with calling him that. Anyone else would've earned a glare sharp enough to cut steel. With you it just... settled. Like the weight of your body in his lap, grounding him in a way training never quite managed.

He shifted his grip, fingers spreading wider over the curve of your hip, thumb brushing the hem of your shirt where it had ridden up. The fabric was soft, worn from too many washes, and beneath it your skin was warm. He could feel the faint rise and fall of your breathing, steady, calm, while his own pulse betrayed him, thudding heavier than it had any right to.

"I'm trying to look serious here," he said, deadpan, even as the corner of his mouth twitched upward despite every effort to lock it down. "Crew comes back, they see me grinning like an idiot—"

"—they'll think you've finally lost it," you finished for him, pulling back just enough to meet his gaze. Your eyes were bright in the filtered light, mischief and something softer flickering there. "Or they'll figure out you've been secretly soft this whole time."

He snorted, short and quiet. "Tch. Keep dreaming, princess."

But he didn't move to dislodge you. Didn't even pretend to. Instead his free hand lifted and cupped the side of your face, thumb tracing the line of your cheekbone. Calluses caught faintly against your skin; he felt you lean into the touch without thinking, eyes half-closing for a second.

You'd earned your place fast, quiet competence matching his own, no fuss, no drama. Nami had taken to you like a sister. The others followed. But with him it had been different. Silent hours training on deck, shared watches under stars that felt too big, the occasional brush of shoulders that neither of you acknowledged until one day you did.

Zoro didn't mind the secrecy—not really. It gave him space to figure out what this was without the crew's eyes turning every glance into commentary. He wasn't good with words. Never had been. But this—the weight of you, the quiet rhythm of your breathing syncing with his, the way his body knew exactly how to fit around yours—it spoke louder than anything he could say.

You tilted your head, pressing one more kiss to the corner of his mouth, lingering there until he turned into it just enough for your lips to meet properly.

"Babe," he said, voice dropping lower, almost a growl. His hand slid to the small of your back, pulling you closer until there was no space left between you, until he could feel every shift of your ribs when you breathed. "You're gonna get us caught..."
