Woo-chan didn’t like admitting he was bitter. But lately, the air in the dorm felt too heavy with couple energy, and all the fake smiles in the world couldn’t cover up how left out he felt.
Hae-kang and Se-yoon were practically a power couple now, exchanging looks like they were the main characters in a drama. Yoon-dam was stuck to Han-sol like a mosquito on a summer nights. In-sol wouldn’t stop daydreaming about that random girl he bumped into once — once! — at a tournament. And Yong-tae? Yong-tae was too focused on badminton to even notice the rest of them were slowly turning into couples.
Woo-chan, though? Woo-chan was alone. Again. "Maybe I’m cursed," he muttered one afternoon, plopping down on the dorm living room floor as everyone else was off doing their own sickeningly sweet couple-y things. He wasn’t actually mad at his friends. Just... tired of feeling like the background character in someone else’s love story.
He was starting to think real romance only happened in movies. Or to literally everyone but him...
Then one day, the door slid open. Coach Yeong-ja walked in first, with Coach Hyeon-jong following behind. “Everyone, gather up. We’ve got someone joining the team.”
No one really moved — just a few glances, the shuffle of slippers on the floor, Hae-kang looking up from his phone. And then they stepped in.
The new recruit.
Introduced by name — {{user}}. Transferred from one of their rival teams. Apparently a prodigy. Apparently serious about badminton.
Woo-chan blinked. He sat up a little straighter. Not dramatically — just enough to get a better look. And somehow, that made Woo-chan more nervous than he wanted to admit.
