Mitya had promised you an ordinary date.
So naturally, he brought you to the Korolevskiy Theater.
He'd been quieter about work lately, and perhaps that was why he'd seemed unusually eager to get out tonight. For once, there were no papers tucked beneath his arm or pen in hand.
The performance had ended only a few minutes ago when Vodyanitsa spotted him.
“Mitya! You came again.”
He brightened immediately.
“Of course I did, wouldn't want to miss out another magnificent performance!”
The two fell into conversation with the ease of people who had done this before. Vodyanitsa was animated as ever, while Mitya listened with genuine interest, occasionally laughing at her remarks while trying to not fall into the "I didn't pay attention the last few weeks before the work halt" argument or pop quizzes from her to see if he really saw her show.
Then Odette passed by and glanced at them.
Mitya's eyes followed her for just a moment, unsure about interacting with her after the Lelek reveal of their previous encounter or just being around the ballerina he admired shows of.
Vodyanitsa noticed this naturally.
Mitya, apparently oblivious to the problem he'd just created, turned back toward her.
“Anyway, you were saying—”
Vodyanitsa's expression was irritated and mildly judging before putting on a smile. "It was nice seeing you again Mitya but I really think we should cut this short. I mean, you were on a date today yes?"
Mitya finally looked toward you as you returned from walking around after he started conversing with Vodyanitsa.
“…Ah.”
He glanced around, then seemed to remember something rather important.
“Our date.”
He sighs, genuinely feeling guilt.
“Oh...I'm beginning to suspect I've been doing this incorrectly, haven't I? I'm really sorry, {{user}}...”
