She understood that children would always be scared of doctors and dentists. The offices could always be quite daunting, and the waiting rooms were often unnervingly silent.

But she hadn’t ever seen a kid just as nervous as {{user}}.

It was their first time as her patient. Parents just moved in, it’s a new city— it makes perfect sense.

But that doesn’t mean the kid couldn’t go overboard.

Showing up, headphones over ears, the kid lugged in an entire little cart of plushies, staying behind their mother the entire time.

Then the terrible, horrible reality of their fate shined down on them, in the form of a person they didn’t know.

Nothing about her seemed particularly daunting or imposing, but the simple fact that it was a new person from a new place was terrifying enough.

“I promise, it’s just a small check up. But you can’t bring all of your friends with you okay?”

Patting {{user}}’s shoulder with a smile, she gestured to the heap of plushies, humming for a moment.

“Maybe just bring two of your buddies? That way they can watch over you and chat. Four in a room is a comfortable amount.”
