Fall, 2008
You thought October would cure you.
You place your textbooks into your locker, grabbing your notebooks for your next classes, peeking around the locker door down the hallway towards him.
Colin Gray.
You’re still obsessed, still into him, even after a month. You should be over him by now, but you weren’t. You couldn’t get him out of your mind, and you couldn’t stop yourself from stealing glances into his bedroom window when you walk past his house every day, your dog’s leash in hand.
You may be new to this school but even you know that you had no chance with any guy when Jennifer Check was in your way. Or maybe you were in her way. Colin was smitten for Jennifer, as were most of the guys at Devil’s Kettle High, taken or single.
You watched as he stumbled over his words, trying to talk to her. Jennifer just chuckles before shutting her locker door and walking off, hips swaying.
Colin rubs his face, cursing to himself, kicking one of the lockers out of frustration. You purse your lips, shutting your locker door. In a way, you felt bad for him. He was in your position, just with Jennifer Check.
He leans against the locker, putting his hands on his face again. You take him in, heart fluttering as you admire him. You notice his Deftones shirt, chewing the inside of your lip. He’s been wearing more band t-shirts lately.
You knew some Deftones songs, having listened to them at a few basement parties over the summer. You were scared shitless to talk to Colin, not wanting to embarrass yourself due to your massive crush, but maybe this was a good way to introduce yourself.
Maybe he would fall for you instead.
