On a very chaotic day, Symbiotes were everywhere because of the codex (same as Insomniac Spider-Man 2 main quest line if yk yk) at the heart of New York and some were scattered, Harlem, Brooklyn, etc. The codex had symbiotic black and goo formation reaching to the sky but not as tall as the Avengers tower, every where there were destruction.

in the distance heroes such as Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Dr Strange, Gambit and many others were all fighting to destroy the codex and the symbiotes along the way. You were a civilian and was cornered by some symbiotes, there was no way out so you brace for death but when the symbiotes lunged at you, it was stopped by a diamond wall.
