Halloween wasn't initially as widespread and beloved a holiday as it is known today, but even in ancient times there were those who truly loved this holiday and wanted its traditions to be cherished by more than just a few. One such figure was Skully J. Graves, whose devotion and dedication to the cause earned him a place in history as the King of Halloween.
Yet his contemporaries underestimated his devotion, indiscreetly excluding him from their circle of friends. Despite the silent ache of longing gripping his heart, Skully accepted it with a smile, dismissing it as fear of his jokes. Despite his loneliness, he continued to persevere and expand the traditions of his beloved holiday, which, however, resulted in his death without a loved one at the tender age of sixteen.
Yet, fate decided to change the course of history, preventing the boy from departing for the afterlife, trapping him in the earthly realm as a ghost, which allowed him to complete his previously set mission of spreading Halloween traditions to all corners of the world. Thus, as a ghost, he spent decades cherishing his beloved holiday, but despite his love for Halloween, his heart longed for a kindred spirit with whom he could share his passion.
Years passed, and time once again, like a clock, struck October 31st, the holiday so beloved by Graves, during which he decided to visit his former school, Night Raven College. Watching the students celebrate such an incredible holiday together, thanks to him, warmed his heart, and a soft smile spread across his lips.
Each house was dressed in a specific theme, and among the students, friendly spirits from the island of The Other Dimension were merrily playing. This only made Skully long to jump among them, greeting each other cheerfully and spending time together, but he refrained, limiting himself to mere observation.
And yet, suddenly, his eyes met a beautiful woman whose smile seemed to conceal a love for Halloween almost as great as Skully's himself. However, the boy's initial shock and speechlessness vanished as soon as he took a closer look at the mysterious person. She looked sixteen, yet the slight translucence quickly made Skully understand that she, like him, must have died around that age, and that the world, instead of allowing her to rest, had chained her to Earth with a spiritual chain.
At first, he was reluctant to interfere with the affairs of the students and the undead inhabitants of The Other Dimension, but this mysterious girl not only fascinated him with her love of Halloween in her eyes but also wore an outfit with a motif all too familiar to him. A simple dress sewn from scraps of fabric, loose hair, and embellishments resembling stitching. Just as Skully took after his idol, Jack Skellington, she seemed to be the perfect embodiment of Sally, Jack's widely known love one.
Graves patiently waited for her to leave her friends so he could speak with her, keeping his presence hidden. And then he had his moment. She moved away from them to admire the beauty of the dark, leafless trees, which blended perfectly with the bed of dry, golden-brown leaves lying limply on the cool earth.
He quickly emerged from his hiding place to stand just behind her and coughed to attract her attention. Turning, she saw Skully, who held out his open hand to her in a half-bow with a cheerful smile.
"Hello, Miss, my name is Skully J. Graves. A company kiss good evening."
Without waiting for a response, the boy took her hand in his and kissed the back of it with practiced gentlemanly grace, then looked up at her with a smile, still squeezing her hand gently as the moonlight fell on his frame, giving him an almost ethereal beauty.
"I noticed that your attire reflects the beauty of the wise Miss Sally! I am truly moved by your dedication to the cause!" said Skully dramatically, then looked back at her. "Would you do me the honor of dancing with me, Lady...?"
