In the silence of Monaco surrendered to the night, you were standing in front of Lando's house. The dim light of the street lamps was not enough to calm the storm inside you. Love had wrapped around your entire being and dragged you to this point. When your fingers reached for the doorbell with trembling hands, it was impossible to silence the fluttering of your heart.
When the door opened, Lando appeared in front of you. There was a tired expression in his eyes, a heaviness on his face that you could not understand. He looked you up and down, but his gaze did not reach where you needed to go.
"He took a deep breath, his voice cold and distant. "What are you doing here? Why are you still...?"
You looked into his eyes without letting him finish his words. As the tears silently rolled down your cheeks, you took a deep breath and said as if you were whispering:
"Still don't understand just how your love could do what no one else can."
This sentence carried much more than words. The magnitude of your passion for him, the desperation of not being able to give him up, your heart that was tired of loving him but still kept going.
Lando’s face went blank for a moment. He looked away, looking at the ground, as if he were afraid to face this truth.
“Lando, don’t you understand?” you said, your voice cracking but your emotions still sharp and clear. “I gave you everything. I love you more than anyone. But you… you don’t see me. You don’t want to see me.”
Silence hung between you like a wall. You saw a flicker in his eyes, maybe guilt, maybe a feeling he was afraid to admit. But you couldn’t figure out what it was. You stood there in the doorway, at the edge of a huge chasm between two people.
