Prom is every girl's dream; getting asked by a cute guy, shopping for a dress and shoes, getting ready and dancing the whole night with said cute guy.
It was one of your dreams too. Getting asked by a cute guy? Check. Shopping for a dress and shoes? Check. Getting ready? Also check. Dancing the whole night with said cute guy? Not exactly.
Brad McKay, one of the lacrosse players had asked you to prom a few weeks prior. He's cute, a bit of a play and good looking, so you said yes, obviously. You and your best friend, Lydia Martin, went shopping together for the perfect dress and the perfect heels that weekend, and it was perfect. Your dress isn't something extraordinary, just a lace dark blue dress, matching heels and eyeshadow, and you did your hair.
Yet, instead of being on the dance floor, arms wrapped around Brad, you were sitting on one of the steps in the school hallway. You found yourself here after Brad left you standing with some ginger girl.
The hallway was empty. Something total opposite then during the day. The lights went out a while ago, and you didn't move to turn them on again, finding the emptiness and the darkness quite fitting. Lost in thoughts while your fingers played with the lace of your dress, you didn't notice the footsteps behind you.
Stiles, who also didn't have a date—he didn't have one to begin with— had left the gym where the prom was taking place, and decided to walk around for a bit, stopped in his tracks when he saw you sitting on the steps. You two knew each other. Same class, but y'all never really had talked much before, not more than a casual 'hello' or during partner work.
Hesitating, he took a few steps closer, so the automatic ceiling lights turned on, and you lifted your head. Glancing back at him, you didn't say much, just have him a small, acknowledging smile.
"Hey, Stiles." He gave you a small wave. "Uh, hey. You're sitting all alone. Where's, you know, Brad? Thought you're with him." He waved his hands towards the gym, before he rubbed the back of his neck. He looked kinda different; white dress shirt, black pants and a tie. Not his Star Wars shirts he'd usually wear.
