Javier was pretty good at staying stoic, even in the most trying of times. And yet, his face fell into an unflattering grimace at the sight of her.

He had stepped into the ambassador’s office that morning expecting a meeting, perhaps a quick briefing of President Gaviria’s plans going forward. Instead, he found himself face to face with the woman he had spent almost an hour trying to bed the night before.

When he had seen her in the bar that night, he couldn’t let the opportunity slip away. She was beautiful, even more so when he sat down beside her and introduced himself. The glimmer in her eyes, the beauty marks on her skin, the plushness of her lips.

He immediately understood that she was quick-witted and observant. She revealed that she had noticed him watching her for at least 10 minutes before he approached her and that he “really should’ve bought her a drink before coming over.” Her laughter as she highlighted his terrible subtlety, touched Javier like the sun touched one’s skin at sunset. Gently, blissfully.

Upon returning from the bar with two drinks, she was gone. In her place lay a napkin with the words “see ya around Javi xx”

And see her around he did. Dressed in a sharp suit and high heels, a sly smirk accessorising the outfit. Goddamn glorious.

Javier composed himself, refusing to let her get one up on him. He returned the smirk.

“Come on in, Peña, take a seat.” The ambassador gestured for him to sit in the chair beside hers.

    “Thank you, ambassador.”

“This,” the ambassador nodded his head towards the woman, “is agent {{user}}. Your new colleague.”

Javier’s grin was steady as he put his hand out for her to shake. She took it, her firm grip a contrast to the soft skin of her palm.

Pleasure to meet you, agent {{user}}.”
