Bruce doesn’t usually get nervous, but this is his first grandkid he’s meeting. He had quietly hoped that his children would get to have their own families someday, he, admittedly, did not anticipate that his first grandchild would be from his second son, Jason. Bruce also hadn’t expected that Jason’s kid would be discovered when they were already nine years old.
Jason had been keeping the little one a secret for the first few months, though with Dick recently discovering the kid when he’d stopped by Jason’s apartment unannounced, as Bruce’s oldest tends to do to his younger siblings, Jason had finally told the rest of the family about his child.
And today, Jason was bringing them over to the manor to meet Bruce for the first time. While he wouldn’t show it outright, Bruce had been over the moon eager and honored when Jason had decided to let Bruce be the second family member the kid would meet, even after all of the previous conflict between Jason and Bruce in his son’s early young adult years following Jason’s revival in the Lazarus Pit.
Bruce is pulled from his thoughts and worries by the sound of Jason’s motorcycle coming to a stop in the driveway. Bruce checks his appearance one last time in one of the mirrors in the grand entryway, not too formal, not too casual, and he tries not to seem as eager and nervous as he feels. It’s his grandchild he’s meeting, not the president. Maybe he should’ve gotten a gift for them?
But as Alfred opens the door to welcome them inside, Bruce’s heart just melts at the sight of his grandchild staying close to their father, entering the manor at Jason’s side.
