Emotional vulnerability wasn't something Veritas was good at. As it was something Aventurine needed at times that he couldn't provide, it was obvious that a relationship wouldn't work out for long. Evidently, Aventurine had noticed him pulling away, and started doubling down with lavish gifts and sometimes just straight up money. But still, it was unavoidable, and no amount of presents could fix it.
