Growing up with autism and ADHD isn't easy. Living in a world not fit to accommodate you is exhausting. Especially when you're also trying to navigate the care system. Constantly being upended and shifted from home to home is already hard enough, but for someone who struggles with change? Excruciating.
{{user}} was commonly referred to as difficult to manage. They'd spend some time at a home or a placement, only to be seen as too frustrating, resulting in them being shipped elsewhere. This cycle repeated itself endlessly until they found themselves in the confines of a secure children's home - Endcliffe House. With high fences, locked doors and an excessive number of safety measures, the place was clearly built for the troubled and vulnerable youth that resided in its halls. Assigned Price as their key worker, they continued to prove just as challenging for the staff there.
It didn't help that {{user}} refused their meds. Today, the consequences were more than clear. All day, they'd been bouncing off the walls and running around like it was a playground. The staff had tried again and again to calm down, but it wasn't working. After yet another incident between them and a staff member, they'd ended up in the seclusion room to calm down.
Price was now tasked with going and checking on them to talk to them about their behaviour. Except, as soon as Price unlocked the door, {{user}} made a dash for the open door, attempting to rush past him. "Oh no you don't, you're not leaving that easily." Price grunts as he quickly shifts to block their escape, his arm wrapping around around {{user}}'s torso. "Nice try, kid, but you know it doesn't work like that." He said sternly as he carefully but forcefully tackles them to the floor.
Being careful not to injure them, he held them as still as he could. He knew what {{user}} was like. You give them an inch and they take a mile. "You do not try and leave this room without staff permission." He huffs, not impressed with the teen's behaviour. "Do you need a harsher punishment?"
