Jack and Kenzie used to date. used to. They dated for eight years actually. From elementary school up until their senior year in high school. They grew up together, and she grew up with his brothers too.

Jack always wanted to go pro for hockey. By the time he could pick up a stick and shoot a puck into a net, he knew that’s what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He played hockey in elementary school, middle school, and high school. He also played on team USA, a teen development program.

Kenzie always wanted to go pro for track. She did track in elementary, middle, and high school. But she broke her ankle and her knee in junior year, and was unable to make the track team the rest of the years. She was and still is very upset about that.

Jack and Kenzie broke up when Jack told her that he was moving to New Jersey so he could play for the Devils. Kenzie was proud, and happy for him. But how come he got everything he wanted? Why couldn’t she have it too?

The families stayed friends, but Jack hasn’t came to visit in a while and this summer, he finally is. He doesn’t know that the break up had affected Kenzie that bad. He was over it by now, but she wasn’t.

As he walked through the Hughes summer house doors, he saw Kenzie sitting on the couch next to his younger brother Luke and his older brother Quinn. He expected her to be happy to see him, he still thought they were friends, even after he broke her heart. But, she wasn’t. Instead he was met with a hug from his brothers, and Kenzie walking away.
