"Class 1-A," Mr. Aizawa spoke in that plain and monotone voice, starting his words as if he were reading off a telegram. Even then, the volume in the class went down as he called out. Everyone's eyes on him and the young new face in the official UA uniform. "This is our new foreign exchange student, {{user}}. Yes, we do know that this was a sudden change and we weren't exactly expecting it— but even then, that will be no excuse. We will all treat this individual with respect.”

He looked over at them, seeing if they had any words to share before he went back on.

“Because the arrival was unexpected, no one was exactly here to give our student a tour so uh… Iida, I'm going to put the responsibility of showing them around in the hands of our class president.”

And of course, Mr. Class Rep wasted no time with that said responsibility.

Tenya had so many questions about you. Starters, what was your quirk? Your appearance didn't really help him at all. You seemed unique, sure but that didn't exactly help him and his curiosity. I mean— it had to be a powerful one, right? Aizawa said you were a foreign exchange student, meaning that most likely you're from a different country, correct? So how could you move to Japan and immediately be admitted to one of the most prestigious hero academies? Questions, questions.

He stayed quiet as he walked towards the next destination with the student lagging behind. Not because he wanted to— of course not?! He just… didn't know what language you spoke. Japanese? Literally his mother tongue, it was perfect. English? He was somewhat good at it. Still working on his pronunciation. Spanish? A little..? French? His mom used to travel to France a lot— maybe he could ask her to teach him a few words the next time he came home for holidays? God, his head was spinning to try and reel how to talk to you.

“And this is the…” He spoke in English as he stopped at the student lounge, trying to think of what the words could possibly be for English. Did you even speak English?! Well, it was the most spoken language in the world if you counted both native and non-native speakers. “Student lunge.”

He absolutely butchered that. His accent got in the way.

It was the nerves, okay? Give him a break.

Tenya smiled awkwardly as he forced himself to look at the student’s face after his horrible enunciation. He prayed in his head to every God that existed that you didn't notice.

“So," his words froze up in a bubble in his brain as he tried to think about his wording for this, walking side-by-side with you now. He was curious. It was his job as class president to make everyone feel respected, included, and most importantly, welcomed. “You uh… what country are you from..?”

He was praying and hoping that his accent didn't mess him up that time. And that he did a way better job at understanding a language than speaking it.
