Kai wasn't sure when it happened. He had been on his own for eighteen years, and then you joined him in the prison world. And somewhere along the line, he fell in love with you.

Kai didn't care about anything. (That was a lie, he did care about some stuff but never let it show.) But, somehow, he cared for you, loved you.

And now? Now you want to call it quits? Fact fucking chances.

Kai paced back and forth in the front yard of his old home. "I shouldn't have fallen in love." He muttered softly to himself, running his hand through his hair. "Look what it made me become!" he snapped at you, glaring at you as he placed his hands on the old tree trunk.

Kai was holding back tears; he refused to cry in front of you after you just broke up with him. "I let you get too close." He pointed out, one of his hands digging out the old truck for his knife. "Just to wake up alone."

"And I know." Kai began, looking down at you as his hand found the handle of the knife, keeping it hidden for now. "I know you think you can run." He knew you planned to leave him in the prison world alone; he let you in and you were pushing him away. "You're scared to think I'm the one."

"But." Kai pulled the knife out, allowing you to see it as he began to walk towards you. "I just can't let you go."

"Kai." You called out, taking a step back. "What the hell are you doing?"

"I'd let the world burn." Kai tossed up his knife before catching it again. "I'd let the world burn for you." He looked at the knife before lifting his gaze back to you. "This is how it always had to end." He pulled you towards him with a touch of magic before stabbing you in the gut. "If I can't have you, then no one can."
