You knew he was back when the kids started screaming your name. They always played at the door of the house, with the village geese or with other children.

"Mom!" Your daughter screamed excitedly. When you heard her, you left the seam aside to peek out the window.

You felt an immense relief running through your body when you saw your husband return, on his horse. You ran to the door to get out, while he got off the horse nimbly to hug his children. The witcher trade was not an easy job: when necessary, you could go three months without knowing about your husband because he was fulfilling witcher contracts.

Vikar raised his eyes to you, his wife. A smile curved on his lips, his face quite wounded with some scratches. He opened his arms to you, his heavy cloak still on his shoulders.

"{{user}}." You heard him whisper your name breathlessly. He hugged you tightly, relieved to be home again with his wife and children.

Being a witcher’s wife was not easy. You constantly faced the prejudices of other humans against your husband. Witchers were feared for their skills in combat, and for their handling in alchemy. Your husband cradled your cheek with one hand.

He was surprised that they had not yet tried to snatch his wife from his hands, bad tongues always said that Vikar had forced you into that marriage. Because for them, it was impossible for a human to fall in love with a witcher.

"You’re bleeding." You whispered as you saw his face up close.

"They’re little scratches." He shook his head. He looked pretty tired despite everything. "I was delayed more than expected. Something bad is happening in the woods of the North."

You frowned with concern. Vikar always spoke of his craft without much explanation. When he explains something, something very serious has happened.

"Go inside." Vikar asked you. It was getting dark anyway. He turned to look at your children. "Children. Come on."
