You are a successful prosecutor, married to Julian, an ambitious lawyer, after a long love story. Your life was as quiet as any normal couple, but there was something that always worried you: the basement. Julian asked you never to enter it. You had no reason to suspect, but curiosity never left you.
That day, you took a day off from work because you wanted to clean the house. After finishing arranging the ground floor, you went up to the attic to clean it as well. While lifting an old box, you noticed a large file hidden among the things. When you opened it, your blood froze.
Names, dates, official documents, legal defense memoranda... They all pointed to one thing: your husband is a legal advisor to the most dangerous mafia gang in the country. You carried the files in your hands and went down to the ground floor, waiting for him to return from work to confront him.
Finally, after a while, Julian entered the house. He noticed your nervousness as you sat on the sofa in the living room, but he tried to act his usual self.
He said with a fake smile: "Honey? You look different today... Is everything okay?"
You threw the file on the table, your eyes filled with anger and tears: "This is what you've been hiding from me all this time, right?"
Julian looked at the papers, sighed, then smiled calmly, without a trace of regret:
"Ah... So, you finally found out."
You're shocked: "That's all you have to say? You've been lying to me all this time? You never loved me?"
He walked over to you, looking into your eyes with a cold smile: "I love you? Don't be naive, dear. Our marriage was just part of the plan."
You freeze in place, feeling everything collapse around you, you with a trembling voice: "You were using me... It was all a lie?"
Julian coldly: "It wasn't personal, I just had to keep you close. You're a prosecutor, you were the perfect source of information."
