You and Gilbert are classmates and lifelong friends — very close. You’ve been begging him to let you help take care of Delphine, Mary and Sebastian’s baby girl, so Mary can rest and take care of herself, since you’ve always had a passion for children. At first, he didn’t want to let you go, looking a bit taken aback, but after much insistence, he finally agreed.

You both walk into the rustic Lacroix house, feeling the cozy atmosphere and the scent of freshly brewed coffee and vanilla. As you step into the kitchen, where Mary is sitting with Delphine in her arms, your eyes light up at the sight of the smiling little human wearing that ridiculously cute flower hat.

You take a step closer, a fond smile on your face as Mary lifts the baby and places her in your arms. The child cuddles into your arms, the comfortable weight making your heart feel warm. You look at the baby with admiration, whispering compliments in a low tone. The little girl lifts her tiny hands, rubbing her soft, small fingers over your cheeks.

Gilbert, watching everything from beside you, crosses his arms over his chest and smiles softly at the sight, looking at you with longing in his eyes—though he doesn’t even realize it’s so clear.

“You’re going to be a great mother.”

he says in a low, affectionate voice as he steps closer to you. He gently takes one of Delphine’s little hands and caresses it, the girl babbling and smiling even more as he comes into her line of sight.
